Marvel Confirms Rumblings Of A BLACK WIDOW Solo Movie

Well it looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe map is about to change once more as Phase Three takes shape with Captain America: Civil War. It turns out the Marvel’s own Kevin Feige has otherwise confirms that the studio’s eye is on the ball for a Black Widow solo film in which actress Scarlett Johansson would reprise her role.

The news comes from Friday’s Deadline interview in which a slew of topics were thrown in the mix regarding Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man and other properties and prospects. “…Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is black widow.” says Feige, before adding “We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise.”

Fans have been pining for Johansson to get a solo film of her own following her Marvel debut as said character in 2010’s Iron Man 2. The character first appeared in 1964 on the pages of Marvel Comics from creator Stan Lee as a deadly multihyphenate in the battlefield – athletic and intelligent in more ways than several with some of her abilities having been enhanced earlier on through biotechnology.

The role has since propelled Johansson’s career to action stardom as a current mainstay throughout Marvel’s film schedule, as well as in the 2014 hit film Lucy and her likely return in the sequel, and the upcoming manga/anime adaptation of Ghost In The Shell. Captain America: Civil War rejoins Johansson with Chris Evans in the title role and all the familiar faces of the Marvel cineverse for its release this weekend in the U.S..
