Mathis Landwehr Photo Teases A KAMPFANSAGE Reunion

It’s been a good decade since German martial artist, action actor, stuntman and fight choreographer Mathis Landwehr blew the lid off the country’s brewing martial arts movie industry in director Johannes Jaeger‘s 2003 hit film, Kampfansage: Der letzte Schüler. And in the years since, Landwehr has continued to remain on the map, performing stunts and acting in several films as the eponymous film-to-TV hero, “Lasko” opposite Arnold Vosloo in Im Auftrag Des Vatikans, director James McTiegue’s V For Vendetta, and reuniting once more with Kampfansage co-stars Volkram Zschieche and rising cinema action hero, Reel Deal Action member Mike Moëller’s leading role in last year’s limited release of Arena Of The Street Fighter, to name a few.

So considering the significant success action fans have seen from our friends in Germany, in addition to the establishment of individual independent screenfighting filmgroups by other aspiring action actors and stuntmen, what better way to continue the trend than tease a possible reunion of familiar faces? And with this, I present you Landwehr‘s latest Facebook post:

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

The post contains one of the original posters for the film’s initial German release version on the left, with a photo of Landwehr sitting together with Jaeger (center) and Zschiesche (right)-something to bear in mind as a return to greatness while pondering this year’s possibilities for Germany’s action film scene. And speaking of possibilities, Landwehr is currently set to appear in a new collaborative action project with Movie-Do and Moviestuff Berlin titled Roughtown, while his latest role in a conceptual 12-minute teaser for Roundhouse Films’ ambitious new sci-fi fantasy martial arts western, Land Of Giants, could possibly see its first scripted season going into production soon, if not already.

These are all just a few noticeable gems to look out for in the New Year as we move forward, although regarding the post, it is not yet clear if Landwehr‘s post is a hint at a Kampfansage sequel or another project,  or if we are really just making a big fish out of a picture of three really awesome people hanging out together. So while you’re here, if you are just discovering Landwehr‘s Facebook page, feel free to hit the LIKE button and stay connected.

Kampfansage: Der letzte Schüler (a.k.a. The Challenge) is now available wherever films are sold. Moëller is also set to appear in director Nico Senter’s upcoming film, Atomic Eden, later this year.

Stick around for more info!
