MECHANIC: RESURRECTION Awakens With Its First Still From Dennis Gansel’s Sequel

Don’t write off actor Jason Statham just yet. He may not be “transporting” anymore, but the 2011 release of Simon West’s adaptation of Michael Winner’s 1972 Charles Bronson action classic, The Mechanic, boasted high marks of its own at the box office for a worthy sequel as of late 2014, which still very much makes this one prospective of its own success.

Said sequel now comes in the form of Summit Entertainment’s Mechanic: Resurrection, having recently undergone extensive reshoots in the last several months. As such, with a release of date reset from this past January to August 26, 2016, the first image can be seen below. (H/T ComingSoon.net).

Dennis Gansel directs from a script by Philip Shelby, Tony Mosher, Rachel Long and Brian Pittman. Featuring action sequences by J.J. Perry (The Expendables 3) and Allan Poppleton (Allan Poppleton), the new film sees Statham returning as master assassin Arthur Bishop following the events of the first film. Having thought to have moved on with his new life, he’s now forced to take out a list of the world’s most dangerous men in order to resuce the woman he loves from captivity.

Statham is joined by Jessica Alba in the photo while actress Michelle Yeoh and actor Tommy Lee Jones also star.
