MIRROR'S EDGE Is Getting A Live-Action Television Series!

It’s been eight years since the hit game, Mirror’s Edge, took off for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from Electronic Arts. The game has undergone its share of mobile and desktop iterations, and even introduced a prequel that centered on the origins of main character, Faith, before announcing a universal reboot last year.

The property has also been the subject of a few fan film shorts now online while the reboot, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, releases in just a couple of weeks. Clearly this one begs for the attention of some form of film or TV treatment with all of the cinematic hype it gets, and thankfully we’re not too far off according to a new report at Deadline telling of the involvement of Endemol Shine North America’s scripted division, Endemol Shine Studios.

Based on the hit game, a live-action serial adaptation of Mirror’s Edge is officially in the works and will feature our aforementioned heroine – a highly skilled courier, freerunner and warrior who traverses her futuristic urban jungle to deliver messages under the surveilance of her totalitarian government, The Conglomerate. When her sister is framed for murder, she becomes embroiled in a government conspiracy that could bring society to an end.

“We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” said Sharon Hall, President of Endemol Shine Studios. “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

Of course, my concern now lies in who will be cast to lead this epic future tale of murder, intrigue and war laced with sci-fi lore and explosive martial arts and traceur action. At any rate, I’m just pleased to see this is now officially a thing for freerunning and gaming fans, and TV viewers alike.
