New Featurette For ONCE UPON A TIME IN VIETNAM

You may recall the people over at Twitch unveiling some behind the scenes photos of the upcoming film, Once Upon A Time In Vietnam (previously titled Lua Phat or “Monk On Fire”), back in January of this year, prior to the teaser a few weeks later.

Now we have some behind the scenes footage courtesy of Far East Films, with costume designer Bao Tranchi discussing the various differences between how Hollywood works compared to other countries like Vietnam, and the esoterism of the overall creative process behind making outfits and bringing designs to life for the big screen.

OUATIV stars director Dustin Nguyen, Ngo Thanh Van, Roger Yuan, Thai Hoa and Dinh Ngoc Diep, in a story about a town who recruits a stranger to help defeat a crime boss. The film is described as a cross between a Sergio Leone spaghetti western, fantasy and martial arts action, blended with dangerous romance and Buddhist philosophy.

Wyck Kaosayananda (a.k.a. Kaos) who also directed the 2002 action thriller, Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever, served as the film’s director of photography.

The film is slated for an August release.
