New Poster And Trailer For US Release Of Redemption

Jason Statham is currently getting his theatrical run in the UK with the action crime drama titled Hummingbird. The “Expendables” alumnus is also slated to star in several films including “Heat”, “Homefront” and Fast And Furious 7 between now and next year.

With Hummingbird, though, there will not be any birds here for its North American release this summer, only Redemption, according to a new article today from Action Flick Chick.

SYNOPSIS:

Reeling from a traumatic tour of duty in Afghanistan, Joey (Jason Statham), an ex-Special Forces soldier, returns to London to face another kind of war: life on the streets as a damaged, homeless veteran. In an attempt to rehabilitate himself, Joey assumes another man’s identity and seeks the aid of Sister Cristina (Agata Buzek), a young nun who works at an inner-city parish. But Joey’s expert training as a soldier marks him as a valuable asset, and he soon finds himself caught in the dark web of London’s criminal underworld. Struggling to keep hold of his integrity, Joey offers his profits to those who need it most. But when he learns his missing girlfriend was brutally murdered by a ruthless kingpin, he risks everything for bloody revenge, hurtling down a deadly path that promises to destroy him completely…or be his last and only hope at redemption.

Conjuring a gritty, explosive picture of London’s criminal underworld, award-winning writer Steven Knight (EASTERN PROMISES, DIRTY PRETTY THINGS) directs this action-packed debut feature about a man struggling to find justice in a world saturated with violence.

Lionsgate is distrubiting the film, written and directed by Steven Knight and produced by Paul Webster and Guy Heeley. REDEMPTION stars Statham along with Benedict Wong, Vicky McClure and David Bradley, and is set for a theatrical and on-demand release for June 28, 2013.
