● Vertical Entertainment is proudly releasing Daniel Zirilli’s action thriller, Hollow Point, in select theaters where open, and on VOD from April 9. The film stars Dilan Jay as a grieving widower who “finds himself caught up in a war between a group of charismatic vigilantes and the crime that infests their city”. ● The cast of the seventh Mission Impossible movie just got bigger with Christopher McQuarrie announcing the additions Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Charles Parnell (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Mark Gatiss (The Father), and Cary Elwes (Saw), and many more. They join the likes of headliner Tom Cruise, actors Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby and Angela Bassett with the studio releasing both MI:7 and MI:8 on November 19, 2021 and November 4, 2022, respectively (Variety).
● Jason Statham action thriller, Wrath Of Man, is on the way and will release on April 23. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film is “based on the 2004 French action-thriller Le Convoyeur, which followed a security guard who has an ulterior motive when he takes a job working for an armored truck company. The revenge-driven remake follows a mysterious man named H (Statham) who goes to work for an armored truck company that is responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week.” (Collider)
●Filming in Italy is month is action adventure, Dakota, from director Kirk Harris and written by Johnny Harrington. Starring Abbie Cornish and young actress Lola Sultan, the film tells of Kate, a widow and her struggle to hold onto the family farm in the wake of her Marine husband Clet’s death in Afghanistan, while U.S. Sergeant T.J. Malcolm and her daughter race to bring home Clet’s best friend and fighting dog. (Variety)
IDW Publishing’s 2019 graphic novel, Canto, is in feature development under Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook banner. Canto is set in the land of Arcana where our titular tin hero journeys beyond the land in search of his peoples’ missing hearts, after committing the forbidden sin of falling in love. (Deadline)
● Long in-development The Panopticon has cast Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies), Anthony Mackie (Avengers), and Jacob Latimore (The Chi) in the new thriller with multiple deals closed out of this month’s virtual EFM. With Ridley Scott exec producing, Andrés Baiz (Narcos) will direct from the Black List script by Emily Jerome, a story that centers on “Chase, an ambitious young Wall Street trader who seizes upon a hot investment opportunity in PCC Correctional, a private prison group racking up huge profits. She soon uncovers an operation rife with violence and malfeasance. Forced to choose between profiting from a gold mine career opportunity and doing the right thing, Chase teams up with a local prison guard (Mackie) to take on a culture of corrupt boardrooms, white supremacists, prison gangs and crooked correctional officers, to break apart the system that’s made her a rising star.” (Deadline)
●The weekend saw the official final trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. A complete, four-hour retcon of its 2017 incarnation, Snyder puts his signature stamp on what looks to fully flesh out the continuation of his longstanding vision dating back to Man Of Steel (2013). The film will stream exclusively on HBO Max from March 18.
