News Briefs: Netflix’s HORIZON ZERO DAWN; Casting Updates On THE LAST KING OF THE CROSS, FLINT STRONG And TIN SOLDIER

• Sony Interactive’s 2017 action sci-fi RPG, “Horizon Zero Dawn”, is in the works at Netflix. (Variety)

• Tim Roth will star as the antagonist in Australian crime drama series, Last King Of The Cross. He replaces Ian McShane for the role of the underworld’s most-respected crime figure who grooms an acolyte in the form of a young poverty stricken immigrant who has since gone seperate ways with his brother. (Deadline)

• Brian Tyree Henry, who will appear in this August’s Bullet Train, has been cast in Flint Strong, the feature directorial debut from Rachel Morrison. He takes the role previously cast for Ice Cube who worked on the film for just two days in 2020 before the pandemic shut production down. The film stars Ryan Destiny in a biopictoral telling of Clarissa “T-REX” Shields, the first woman to achieve Olympic gold in boxing, whose journey was the centerpiece of Zackary Canepari and Drea Cooper’s 2015 documentary. John Wick 4 co-star Shamier Anderson is set to join action thriller Tin Soldier, now shooting in Greece with Jamie Foxx, Scott Eastwood, Robert DeNiro and John Leguizamo. Jess Fuerst wrote the pic which sees a military operative recruit a soldier with a vulnerable past to infiltrate an impenetrable cult of soldiers and veterans led by an enigmatic leader known as “The Bokushi” (Deadline)
