NINJA SCROLL: Re-Live The Legend In 4K In Theaters This October

HIDIVE and Iconic Releasing are readying to co-habitate screens across the U.S. and Canada this October with a 4K revival of celebrated anime hit, Ninja Scroll. Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s 1993 thriller will have a limited theatrical run on October 4, 5 and 7, returning the film to screen since celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary in 2024.

Kawajiri directs the classic samurai anime which follows Jubei who saves a young ninja woman from the unthinkable. Assuming that’s the end of it, it’s only just the beginning as the two investigate the mysterious deaths of an entire village which uncovers a conspiracy of demonic proportions. Getting closer to the truth, the demonic forces will stop at nothing to silence Jubei and his companion for good!

The film’s 4K restoration was produced by AMC Global Media’s Sentai under Kawajiri’s supervision  and screened for this first time earlier this year at the 76th Berlinale. Its “painstaking” restoration and remaster” required “a meticulous process that involved a 4K scan (3840 × 2160 pixels) of the original 35mm negative, then repairing any damage and lastly performing color correction to create an archival quality digital master of the film,” according to a press release.
