NYCC 2016: JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO Welcomes Back The Man, The Myth, And The Legend In The New Teaser Trailer!

2014 saw the beginning of a new era of action with the release of John Wick, bringing on a career revival of sorts for lead actor Keanu Reeves who may very well be onto a new blockbuster franchise following the Matrix trilogy more than a decade ago. And to think now, his ceremonial re-emergence in the action genre comes equipped with much of the team behind Reeves’s action film performance since then, led by none other than second unit directors and stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and David Leitch who led the way with the first film and have since succeeded on their own directing endeavors.

Both, much to our delight, have also included the film’s sequel in their workload in the past year or more, now with Stahelski at the helm and Leitch taking on an executive producer role. For this and more, we get John Wick: Chapter 2, making its way around the stratosphere this weekend at New York Comic Con following a recent trailer tease that promise to take the action to great, international lengths. The film has seen a mix of set photos and videos between its production slates in New York City and in Rome, Italy and the fan hype has been as relentless as ever to make these gems viral, some of which before being removed at the studio’s behest, of course, and nonetheless telling of this sequel as one of the most hotly anticipated films going into 2017.

SYNOPSIS:

Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017

Some of those killers will ultimately include actor Common who takes to the pulpit as our main antagonist. Also starring are a mix of new and returning faces that include Reeves’ fellow Matrix cohort, actor Lawrence Fishburne, actresses Bridget Moynahan and Ruby Rose, and actors John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, as well as newcomers Laurence Fishburne, Peter Stormare and Riccardo Scamarcio, and with a script by returning scribe Derek Kolstad.

Fans attending New York Comic Con may also find themselves in the throes of “John Wick Chronicles” the new virtual reality game made for the HTC Vive VR headset which releases on Stream the same month as the film’s release. The game will also be a part of an exclusive pre-order bundle with the 2014 film, according to Variety.
For now though, its all about the film, and chances are that whether you read this article or just skipped right to the trailer, you’ll be seeing this movie no matter what. I know I will.
