NYTVF 2014: UK Action Series, THE FIGHT ROOM To Screen This October + New Poster

The first trailer for the new UK-produced action series, The Fight Room, went online back in June. Since then, the series has been planning a campaign in the festival circuit and now has a forthcoming opening for the New York Television Festival, which runs from October 20th through the 25th.

The pilot trailer is a great piece of action eye candy, especially for fans of British actress and screenfighting siren, Zara Phythian, who can now be seen on the official poster ahead of the festival. Check it out below, as well as Wednesday’s official announcement and trailer from June. To learn more about the New York Television Festival, check out their official website.

New action series concept, “The Fight Room” has made the official selection of the presti- gious New York Television Festival.

The premise follows a group of female fighters who are kidnapped from all over the world and taken to an unknown location where they are blackmailed into fighting each other for an anonymous internet audience. The narrative blends elements of the classic tournament fight genre with a strong dramatic emphasis as the audience follow the struggles, life and death decisions and unravelling of the myster- ies of the female characters.

The pilot features Martial Arts champion and action actress Zara Phythian (The Hike) and is action directed by Christian Howard (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist). The series is written by Gillian MacGregor and Emily Corcoran, directed by Niall Johnson, produced by Emily Corcoran and executive produced by Graeme Fry for Cork Films Ltd and Stanley Road Productions.

The team has produced a 13 minute pilot which will be screened twice at the NYTVF and has developed an outline for a full television or online series.

The Fight Room is currently in development and already has been presented at Cross Video Days.
