Pakistan Is Ready To Make Movie History With WAAR!

This week brought on a new trailer for what is being pitched as the biggest movie in the the history of Pakistani cinema. The film is an American/Pakistani co-production called Waar, a largely English-language bilingual espionage action thriller from Mindworks Media and Warner Bros., and Twitch writer J. Hurtado has been doing some extensive research on the developments regarding the film, keeping tabs for the past year couple of years.

A teaser originally released to the public last year in January for a release date set for February 15, 2012, although it seems that the film has remained unreleased since then, due in part to post production decisions on behalf of writer and producer Hassan Waqas Rana, and award-winning music video director Bilal Lashari who is now ready to declare Waar as his theatrical filmmaking debut.
“I am the type of person who is never satisfied or happy,” Lashari tells The Express Tribune. “But the way it (Waar) has come together, I am sure it will raise the bar of cinema (film-making) in terms of what people are used to.” In the same article, Rana states “Both of us, Bilal and I, are the biggest critics of ourselves. But I think we’ve been pretty amazed by the turnout of the project,” He also added, “However, the real truth of how the film really is, can only be assessed when it reaches the audience.”

The eight million dollar feature stars Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abbasi, Meesha Shafi, Ayesha Khan, Ali Azmat, Uzma Khan and Hamza Abbasi.
Particulars regarding this film continue to remain a mystery since post prodiction began and completed. I imagine it will eventually get some steam now that we have a full trailer. The now-expected domestic release date will be on September 6, 2013 from ARY Films/Mandviwalla Entertainment.
