We haven’t heard from director Archie Hekagery in a hot minute, although he’s still been working ever since he hit our radar with 2020 fight flick, Tarung Sarung. More recently, he and the good folks have been much busier with the new period epic, Pasukan 1000 Janda, which hails from Manara Studios and is now set for a theatrical Indonesian release on November 12.
Actress Atiqah Hasiholan (Stealing Raden Saleh) stars in the role of Malahayati, whose real-life exploits as Admiral are central to the 16th century-set story of a naval brigade of freedom fighters made of Acehnese widows – also known as the Inong Balee. The cast also lists Cut Mini Theo, Fergie Brittany, Ully Triani, Priska Siahaan, and Tasha Siahaan, as well as Muzakki Ramdhan, Emil Kusumo, and Boy Idrus.
