Completed in 2015 and after years of off and on release plans and waiting, Stefan Ruzowitsky can finally see off his latest dystopian thriller, Patient Zero. Sony unveiled the trailer for the film which hails from Screen Gems and Vertical Entertainment, now with an Aug 14 digital and VOD release, and a subsequent select theatrical rollout beginning September 14.
In the pandemic thriller, PATIENT ZERO, humanity is battling intelligent, adrenaline-fueled creatures born from a viral super-strain. After being bitten, human survivor Morgan (Matt Smith) realizes he is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leading the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure.
Also starring are Stanley Tucci, Natalie Dormer, Agyness Deyn and Clive Standen.
