A new poster was unveiled several days ago for a new film from producer and director Paul Tanter called He Who Dares starring Tom Knight, Simon Phillips, Kye Loren, Ben Lloyd-Holmes, Ewan Ross, Rebecca Ferdinando, Lorraine Stanley, Christina Bellavia and martial arts action starlet Zara Pythian. The film is based on a screenplay by James Crow, and is also produced by first-time film producers Anthony and Patrick Maxwell.
On Christmas Eve a group of ruthless masked terrorists kidnap the Prime Minister’s daughter, fortifying themselves in an underground car park rigged with explosives. Crack SAS operative Chris Lowe (Tom Knight) and his team are sent in and must take the building one level at a time.
HE WHO DARES is being hyped as a “gritty action thriller” which crosses between The Raid and Die Hard, a pitch that truly sets a standard for itself as a martial arts action feature with incredible stunts and a jam packed story filled with suspense. It’s also ironic considering that according to IMDb, Tanter’s film shares the same budget space as The Raid, more or less, and that film ultimately ended up with worldwide success and landing a sequel well on the way. So considering the nature and approval of quality low-budget actioners, I am very excited to see what Paul Tanter and London-based Hong Kong action cinema stunt veteran and stunt coordinator Jude Poyer were able to come up with.
Meantime, you can catch Knight in Kick Ass 2 this August, and Pythian is also slated to star in the upcoming film, Iron Monk with Silvio Simac, Jason Ninh Cao and 34th generantion Shaolin monk, Yanzhi Shi, with Ninja 2 helmer and prime martial arts action filmmaker Isaac Florentine directing.
