PRABHAS 21: What We Know So Far About The Sci-Fi Thriller Coming In 2022

There’s something big happening in the world of Bollywood for the Prabhas fandom as it awaits for whatever is to come for the project currently known as Prabhas 21, which takes off from the name of the starring actor himself.

The past year has since seen a slow accumlation of major casting developments, firstly announcing actor Prabhas in February, before announcing actress Depeeka Padukoe in July. As of last week Friday, the project has welcomed screen legend, Amitabh Bachchan, with word from Deadline’s Tom Grater and Nancy Tartaglione, of a 2022 worldwide release.

There are know plot details or any specifics about the project that are reportable, save for reports from the website suggesting it’s a “sci-fi drama set against the backdrop of World War III”. The pic hails from Vyjayanthi Movies, with Nag Ashwin directing and Aswini Dutt producing.

Prabhas been on the screen for nearly twenty years now, but is best known of late for shepherding box office fruition in the title role of director S.S. Rajamouli’s two-part epic, Baahubali, in 2015 and 2017. He also starred in Sujeeth’s 2019 crime thriller, Saaho, and will next appear in Radha Krishna Kumar’s upcoming drama, Radhe Shyam.

Padukone’s Hollywood breakout role in D.J. Caruso’s xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel and Donnie Yen helped earn the film well over $346 million dollars worldwide. The actress recently starred in Meghna Gulzar’s acid attack survival drama, Chhapaak, and is expected to appear in Kabir Khan’s upcoming cricket drama, 83.

Bachchan, 77, is still alive and kicking after his release from hospitalization after a three-week stay due to a bout with Covid-19 back in July. The award-winning, and newly recovered actor’s longevity in film and television dates back to 1969, and includes recent credits such as Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thugs Of Hindostan, Surender Reddy’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, and Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo. The actor is expected to appear in Nangraj Manjule’s upcoming Vijay Barse biopic, Jhund.
