Bearing in mind the successes shown in martial arts on television of late with shows such as Into The Badlands, Wu Assassins and Warrior, it’ll be worth taking a few moments to listen to what actor and stunt performer Aaron Toney (Captain America: Civil War, The Debt Collectors) has to say nowadays. He’s a considerable face among many to remember when it comes to the future of action on film, and he’s got some ideas!
One such idea began taking shape with the 2014 production of Throne, a short proof of concept he began conceiving years ago with fellow creatives Jason Sweat and Linda Jewell. That short got to enjoy a limited online release for a brief period aside from a trailer still available at Toney’s YouTube channel, and a minute-long exclusive clip over at Black Action Stars.
To date, Throne remains an idea with promise, and to prove it, Toney is firmly acting on that promise with an Indiegogo campaign launch on Monday titling it: Project H. Toney is joined Sweat who serves writer and producer, and co-producer Julia Maggio co-producing, for a series that takes its cues from the martial arts fantasy-infused Throne as the official launchpad for Halvon Corp. Entertainment and Global Forge Studios.
