REBORN: Millarworld Graphic Novel Adaptation Lands ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ Director

The last few years or so have altogether been adding up for graphic novelist Mark Millar whose Millarworld hit big in partnering with Netflix to oversee creative endeavors based on his work.

As of last week, fans can now add Reborn to the list of items now moving forward closer to the intended goal as director Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) has been set to helm an adaptation of the 2016 graphic novel.

Where do we go when we die? What’s waiting for us on the other side? Eighty-year old Bonnie Black finds out when she passes away in a Manhattan hospital and opens her eyes in the world of Adystria, a magical land of monsters and dragons where good and evil are waging an eternal war. Reborn in the prime of her life, she finds all her old friends and loved ones waiting… except the husband who died before her. Armed with a sword and partnered with her late father, she sets off through this battle-torn landscape on a quest to find out where he is.

McKay is best known for his work on The Lego Movie franchise – namely The Lego Batman Movie, and February 8 release of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part on which he also exec produces.

Sandra Bullock, fresh from conquering Netflix consumers and viral video and meme popularity with her recent thriller, Susanne Bier’s Bird Box, is producing the film as will Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon. Millar is exec producing next to Greg Capullo, and with Samantha Nisenboim co-producing.
