RELENTLESS: ‘Taken’-Style Thriller Taps ‘Black Adam’ Fight Coordinator Christopher Brewster For Directing Debut

At one point around this time four years ago, award-winning industry stunt professional Christopher Brewster was riding high off of his well-earned successes leaping tall bounds and spin-kicking thugs on the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen as Charlie Cox’s stunt double in Marvel’s Daredevil to add to his growing list of credits.

It’s been a career that’s proven hugely beneficial for the former Team Sideswipe member who has since plied his trade as fight coordinator for Warner Bros.’s DC release, Black Adam, in addition to other Marvel projects as well as Universal’s vampire flick, Renfield. As of late, Brewster has also begun ramping up efforts to direct Relentless, the first in a two-pic co-prod and financing deal between Walk Like A Duck Entertainment and Renegade Entertainment.

The film marks the second effort for Brewster to add on a feature directing credit to his resumè since he was tapped to direct zombie thriller, Outbreak Z, as his first feature back in 2018, with Wesley Snipes attached to star. Brewster now finds himself on greener pastures this time directing from a script by Chuck Hustmyre, with cameras set to roll early next year.

“I’m very excited because I have spent my entire career building as a filmmaker and learning how to tell a story,” said Brewster in a recent interview with The Action Elite‘s Eoin Friel while in pre-production on the pic.

Brewster added in part “It’s basically the new wave of action films. You’re seeing the John Wick’s, you’re seeing Extraction. You’re seeing all of the legendary stunt performers turned stunt coordinators, turned directors are really enhancing the action of cinematography. They’re creating just a new way of capturing action that really hasn’t been seen before. I like to think that I have a very unique way of telling stories through both movement and camera movement and I’m really, really looking forward to showing my view of the next generation of action.”

Paradigm is repping North American rights on the pic.
