I all but gave up on keeping up with the Milla Jovovich-led Resident Evil franchise. Frankly I never even thought it would last as long as it did but here we are, and now with Netflix readying its own serial take on the hit zombie IP with a series premiering July 14, we have our first teaser.
Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse. Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.
Netflix’s Resident Evil comprises of 8-episodes and stars Ella Balinska and Lance Reddick, along with Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nuñez. The show is written and exec produced by Mary Leah Sutton, and is produced by Robert Kulzer, Oliver Berben, and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film.
