The teaser I’ve pasted below isn’t much, but it’s plenty to hold onto along with the design art above as we now pay mind to the goings-on at Toei Company who are launching sales at EFM for Revolver Lily, the new action thriller from celebrated director Isao Yukisada (River’s Edge, Theater).
The 1924-set live-action adaptation is based on Kyo Naguara’s Kodansha Bunko publication, and centers on Yuri, a brothel Madam who turns to her former skillset as an elite assassin and spy to protect an endangered young boy bearing the key to the imperial Japanese military’s missing funds. Toei’s Muneyuki Kii (Takashi Miike’s First Love, upcoming Shin Kamen Rider) and Daisuke Takahashi, both best known for partnering on Takashi Shimizu’s Suicide Forest Village and Ox-Head Village, are producing the pic.
Cast and further crew info remain under wraps as sales commence. That’s to be expected until distribution kicks in and the film’s campaign revs up while all we have is the artwork and teaser goods to go by. Do keep this one on your radar though. I know I am.
