Pan over to Spain and you’ll find in your view the latest efforts of actor, producer, and filmmaker George Karja. His production banner, La Kátana Films, is currently in toe with producing partner and Miami Web Fest director, Bryan G. Thompson’s Imani Films for independent English-language heroic bloodshed action thriller, Rough Dog, and the team are lending readers of Film Combat Syndicate an exclusive look at select stills which you can view in the mosaic at the bottom of the page.

Production is still underway on the pic which sees Karja directing from a script he co-wrote with Thompson, with both starring alongside actress Xin Wang (“Ex-Model,” “The Switch”). In Rough Dog, Karja plays a Romanian ex-con who arrives in Spain bent on laying waste to the criminal underworld, assassinating numerous mob bosses and leaders and disrupting the multiple businesses that funnel cash to the corrupt Spanish Minister for his campaign. When the deadly attacks begin achieving their desired effect, the beleagured Minsiter dispatches a fixer (Thompson) to eliminate the vigilante once and for all.

I’m told that Karja is also heading up the stunt and screen-fighting direction with his LK Stunts Fight Action Design team, and that the film could go before audiences as early as sometime later this year. I’ve also seen a work-in-progress trailer that gave me some idea about the creative direction in which the film is going. Karja looks great on film and moves excellently on screen, and the drama looks and feels adequate in its intensity to match. I’ll also add that while this isn’t even a Spanish production, I don’t deny for a second that the talent pool in the region that exists there is eager to meet the demand if the industry is willing to invest.

As for Rough Dog, I’m looking forward to sharing a brand-new trailer when the time arises. In the meantime, check out the stills below!
