At some point with The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard still in the pipeline, fans of upcoming Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and 6 Underground star Ryan Reynolds will have another action comedy on their hands with Lionsgate’s latest, Shotgun Wedding. Further casting is underway as Reynolds is set to produce through his Maximum Effort banner for Pitch Perfect helmer Jason Moore to direct this summer.
…the action rom-com will follow a couple whose extravagant destination wedding is taken over by criminals. In the process of saving their families, they rediscover why they wanted to get married in the first place.
Shotgun Wedding come from an original script/pitch by Mark Hammer with Liz Merriwether also weighing in on the script. The additionally reunites Reynolds with The Proposal producers Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman of Mandeville Films whose Alex Young will exec produce with Maximum Effort’s George Dewey.
Andreas Wiseman at Deadline also confirms that Lionsgate’s SVP of Production and Development James Myers and Director of Development Brady Fujikawa will both oversee for the studio.
