Welp…if ain’t broke…
A Free Guy sequel is confirmed in development at 20th Century Studios, as confirmed by studio president Steve Asbell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. The interview, published by Borys Kit, focused on Asbell’s own 20th anniversary with 20th Century, it’s addition into the Disney family, and its future going forward with films in both theatrical and streaming mediums.
Netflix has officially given notice with a trailer for the star studded film Red Notice. A star studded ride across the world, Red Notice features modern Hollywood action royalty in an exciting, comedic chase across the globe, with a target on the back of the greatest art thief in the world.
Netflix has been “all in” on original productions for years now. Their slate for 2021 though has shown unparalleled ambition by having a new release out every week of this year. The crown jewel of which is, undoubtedly, RED NOTICE.
The franchise has been a major box office success up to this point with Tim Miller and David Leitch directing the 2016 and 2018 films, respectively, with Ryan Reynolds staking his claim as the titular merc-with-a-mouth based on Rob Liefield’s longstanding hit comic book creation. Reynolds is also a producer on the pic, and though a director still yet to be attached, the Molyneuxes’ involvement ought to serve as a nice little stocking stuffer going into the Holiday season for Deadpool fans.
Provided there’s still a movie theater left to safely attend by then, Ryan Reynolds’s new fantasy sci-fi, Free Guy, may finally hit the big screen on December 11 after shelving its summer release. The film is directed by Shawn Levy from a script by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn.
Seeing as Ryan Reynolds isn’t quite done yet owning 2019 as Netflix readies the release of Michael Bay’s 6 Underground, he’s got the platform this weekend over at Fox with director Shawn Levy setting up this summer’s action comedy adventure, Free Guy with the first trailer.
Chris Evangelista at Slashfilm has some reservations with the new official poster for Netflix action thriller, 6 Underground. I say it’s way better than the ridiculous Thundercats rumor which still continues to circulate the social medias like terrible memories of an ex that won’t go away – in any case, it’s the lead-off this week along with the newest trailer for the Michael Bay-directed action thriller about a team of rich people out to save the world from something terriblehorriblenogoodandveryverybad… Or something.
Wanna see what a Michael Bay movie looks like on Netflix?
If there was ever time for a live-action Pokémon film, it was gonna be here and now. And with Ryan Reynolds making bank away from the auspices of Marvel’s Deadpool at Fox no less. His iteration is all over the place in the newest trailer above for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, along with a brand new poster below also featuring Justice Smith front and center.
At some point with The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard still in the pipeline, fans of upcoming Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and 6 Underground star Ryan Reynolds will have another action comedy on their hands with Lionsgate’s latest, Shotgun Wedding. Further casting is underway as Reynolds is set to produce through his Maximum Effort banner for Pitch Perfect helmer Jason Moore to direct this summer.
For the last three years, moms and dads have been pining to take their kids to see a Deadpool movie only to get angry on the internet about exposing them to R-rated violence and gore and outlandish comedy…and then pester 20th Century Fox to re-edit the films at the last minute.

I mean it when I say it: Spend your money on Deadpool 2 like nothing else matters.
Also, feast your eyes on this latest prospect signaling courtesy of Skydance Media, announcing a new partnership with Netflix to co-produce and release Six Undergroud. Plot details are nil but the presser highlights it as an original concept from Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, in which Ryan Reynolds will star with notable Transformers franchise helmer Michael Bay being tapped to direct.
I’m suddenly reminded all of Bay’s films and the often lingering comedy and quips throughout between breif moments of dialogue and explosions and considering Reynolds’ acumen for deadpan humor, characteristic of his on-pointe delivery as the R-rated merc with a mouth, I’m surprised Reynolds hasn’t starred in a Bay film yet. Welp, I guess that’s about to change and it could be a winning combination too.
Six Underground is reportedly gearing up for a summer start ahead of a 2019 release with Bay, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger producing. It’s the first collaboration between Skydance Media and Netflix for an event level feature film and the first Netflix project for both Bay and Reynolds.
(If it fits the narrative, I can only hope Ryan trolls this film with a Deadpool appearance. That shit would be just lovely forever).
