MUTINY: Jason Statham Raids A Cargo Ship And Slays Human Traffickers On PVOD And Digital This Week!
Jason Statham’s newest action thriller, Mutiny, is docking at PVOD and digital platforms this week. The film is directed by Jean-François Richet and joins Statham with actress Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller and Adrian Lester from a script by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis.
Mutiny follows Cole Reed (Statham), an ex-cop/soldier-turned-personal protection agent for a shipping magnate whose assassination sets our hero on the run. When Reed infiltrates a cargo ship and uncovers a human trafficking operation, it’s up to him and a probationary sailor to save the victims in the coursr of Reed’s own quest for the truth, and more importantly: vengeance.
The film is produced by MadRiver Pictures and Statham’s label, Punch Palace Productions.
Lionsgate released Mutiny in theaters on August 21, playing for just three weeks while coping with the film’s accidental leak on Prime Video a day earlier. I had the pleasure of attending a screening at the AMC Empire 25, and you’re welcome to read my review which includes the following excerpt:
The action, especially, is by far the biggest seller with stunts coordinated by Steve Griffin, with fight scenes by Godefroy Ryckewaert and Laurent Buson making use of Statham’s bonafide screenfighting prowess where it counts, and enhancing it with plenty of close quarters scrimmages and cutthroat choreography. If the PR you may or may not have spotted online featuring Statham promoting an action figure with his screen likeness tickled the curiousity any, you’ll be pleased to see how he puts some of the latter tools left at his disposal to use. Wanna see goons get shot up and splattered across the lens, stabbed and hooked in the face and harpooned in the head? Mutiny is your movie.
In 2027, Statham will next be seen reprising his role as Adam Clay in director Timo Tjahjanto’s The Beekeeper 2 from Amazon MGM Studios. He will also appear in the current production of David Leitch’s new action comedy from Black Bear, Jason Statham Stole My Bike.
