Fans of “The Stath” will be sure to get some more action in 2025 with Mutiny, from Plane director Jean-François Richet. Actor Jason Statham revealed a first look at the film in an Instagram post on Monday with production already underway in the UK. After his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered in front of him, Cole Reed is set up to take the fall for the crime — leaving him on the run as he works to uncover an international conspiracy. Lionsgate took North American rights on the pic ahead of Cannes earlier this year and is releasing the film wide in theaters in 2025. Richet is directing from a script by Lindsay Michel and Plane scribe JP Davis. Munity also stars Annabelle Wallis, and hails from Mad River Pictures and Statham’s Punch Palace label. Author Peter Craig’s 2005 crime novel, Blood Father, sure found its appeal when it landed in the purview of Assault On Precinct 13 and Mesrine helmer Jean-François Richet. Eleven years later, it is now a feature-length thriller adapatation in full-bloom and making the rounds among critics for some time now. The responses have been an albeit positive mix otherwise measuring the film as more of a pulpy grindhouse-type of thriller, here and now with the rewarding addition of lead actor Mel Gibson with recent titles like The Expendables 3 and El Gringo in his wake among others.
