SABAN'S POWER RANGERS Boasts A First Look At Our "Teenagers With Attitude"!

Filming is approximately four days in with Lionsgate making its gamble with a contemporary feature film reinstallation of their own for Saban’s Power Rangers. Some Toku fans may not like it while others do, although it’s fair to say, generally, that a reboot has been a long time coming since its heyday as a crossover Ameritoku series for Fox Kids and the subsequent films thereafter.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

EW has since bookmarked the film’s first look image of the cast at hand, citing details on actress Elizabeth Banks’s portrayal of villain, Rita Repulsa, and director Dean Israelite’s emphasis on diversity among the cast apart from that of the initial series in terms of articles of clothing. The piece also describes our main characters, Jason – Red Ranger (Dacre Montgomery), Billy – Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler), Kimberly -Pink Ranger (Naomi Scott), Trini – Yellow Ranger (Becky G) and Zack – Black Ranger (Ludi Lin) as a “disenfranchised and disparate” group of high school students who aren’t friends at first, with ranger suits bearing an updated and otherwise “really modern, edgy, badass, aspirational quality.”

“We’ve really pushed ourselves to make them feel different from any other superhero costume that’s out there,” Israelite said. “One key that’s different to the Power Ranger suits is that they’re not really suits that people get into. They’re suits that morph onto our kids, so they already have this almost metaphysical quality to them.”

The film is tentatively releasing in March 2017 following current principal photography in Vancouver, British Columbia. What do you think of the first photo? Comment below!
