Fans keen on Prime Video’s 24-7 Samurai-Shinobi FAST channel of late are invited to check out Friday’s release of Samurai Detective Onihei: Blood for Blood. The film marks the latest in the screen treatments of the Onihei novel series, based on the work of literary author Shotaro Ikenami.
Directed by Tomohiko Yamashita from a script by Sumio Omori, the film succeeds 2024’s TV special, “Samurai Detective Onihei: Lawless Love,” continuing the saga of Heizō Hasegawa – known as “Onihei” – played by renowned stage and film thespian Koshiro Matsumoto. The actor is joined by his real-life son, Somegoro Ichikawa, who portrays Onihei’s younger self in the film’s ensuing flashbacks.
Omasa (Yuri Nakamura), the daughter of the owner of a pub that Hasegawa Heizo (Koushiro Matsumoto) used to frequent as a young man, asks him if she could work for him as a spy. Heizo says no, but Omasa finds out that he is investigating Kuhei of Sagihara (Akira Emoto), the owner of a yam liquor shop called Kagaya who lives a double life as a thief.
Omasa starts her own investigation of Kuhei, which leads her to a plot by a savage thief called Jingoro the Net Cutter (Yukiya Kitamura). She decides to go undercover and manages to infiltrate the Net Cutter’s group but finds herself in grave danger.
Samurai Detective Onihei: Blood for Blood will launch publicly on the 24-7 Samurai-Shinobi FAST channel on Prime Video beginning July 25 at 8:00pm PST/11:00pm EST. The film hails from Tokyo-based entertainment firm, REMOW Co., Ltd., in association with Nihon Eiga Broadcasting Corp., in a continuing effort for 24-7 Samurai-Shinobi since kicking off back in April with a roster of titles, including Koichi Sakamoto’s action packed Shogun’s Ninja.

The U.S. launch of Samurai Detective Onihei: Blood for Blood on Amazon’s FAST channel “24/7 SAMURAI – SHINOBI” is just the beginning.
