School’s Out In The New Teaser For SAILOR SUIT AND MACHINE GUN: GRADUATION

Actress Yakushimaru Hiroko’s role in Sailor Suit And Machine Gun, Somai Shinji’s 1981 adaptation of Akagawa Jiro’s highly popular 1978 novel of a smiliar name, left a nice little piece of film history for fans at the time. The book itself sold about two million copies at the time as well and that says a lot about how beloved and well received a character like Hoshi Izumi is, and well enough to even follow up briefly on TBS in Japan in 2006.

Well, chalk another one up for this petite little school girl as she’s armed to the teeth and back with her Yakuza pack in Salior Suit And Machine Gun: Graduation. Hashimoto Kanna now takes the reigns. Cannonball Wedlock pair, writer Takada Ryo and director Maeda Koji spearhead this latest installment which now sees our young female protagonist Yakuza free after avenging her uncle and is now managing a café until her old life comes crawling back.
The film is releasing next year on March 5 next year and a teaser has been up since last month, but you can watch it below. Prepare for sunny imagery, bubbly smiles, sweeping beautiful music… and a gun-toting Izumi. Oh dichotomy, you kidder.
