SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Offical Trailer Flies High In Friendly Company

We’re just a little over a month shy of the Out Of Competition premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story at Cannes next month. Expect reactions to arise, and with it, more angst from fans – a good number of who may still be writhihg in pain from the last in-canon film from director Rian Johnson who sits at the forefront of a new trilogy in development ahead of the ninth entry.

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

The official trailer is now online and more to the appeal of those who share interest in an origin spin-off of this particular figure in the space saga. There have definitely been fans vociferous of this newest foray’s excess to their own minds on it and without question, lead actor Alden Ehrenrich has been a hard sell for the title role ever since cameras started rolling under the Lord/Miller duo.

The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and the 2016 spin-off, Rogue One have all collectively accrued over four billion, so I reckon there’s been some feeling of ease for Disney as they spend hundreds of millions of dollars. It certainly feels like this one ought to draw in a similar sizeable crowd by next month but we’ll have to wait and see what the film’s numbers will be tracking in the remaining days of the campaign.
Needless to say, franchise fatigue is still a thing. I kind of think it’ll be a miracle if this film breaks a billion, regardless of what the reviews say. Sure, the film ought to be good, at least, but the measure of a film’s critical delivery has never stopped moviegoers from shamelessly being the money juices that these theatrical exhibitors sponge up, and believe me, this IS a Star Wars movie so… they see the fans coming.
The global rollout begins on May 23 with a U.S. release stamped for May 25. Catch the new trailer below and official poster just beneath!
