Streaming Sleepers: Lee Jung-Jae’s HUNT Delivers A Pulsating Spy Thriller Debut

One of the most exciting political thrillers of the past year is currently available on Hulu as of this write-up with actor Lee Jung-jae’s feature directorial debut, Hunt. The film joins the Squid Game star with actor Jung Woo-sung for the first time since Kim Sung-su’s City Of The Rising Sun, and centers on the heads of two agents thrust into espionage and danger when the existence of a mole in their operations threatens to upend the South Korean government.

I love that this film is more than one thing which rights highlights Lee in his brilliant debut at the helm. The film will almost certainly keep you guessing from start to finish while daring you to keep going even as the emotional gut punches are dealt without fail, and with performances that are nothing short of solid. Our own Harris Dang had plenty to say in his review of the flick during its Fantastic Fest XVII run last year:

Entertainment is the name of the game and Lee delivers with tons of frenetic shoot-outs (with striking sound design that makes the gunfire stand out), numerous plot twists and many dramatic mano-a-mano stare-offs between lead actors Lee and Jung Woo-sung that is reminiscent of action thrillers from the ‘90s.

Check out Hunt on Hulu. The film is available in Korean with English subtitles and in English dub.
