FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUSTRALIAN SCI-FI THRILLER RESTORATION SEALS NZ TV DEAL WITH SKY
Virgin Australia picks up film for September release on domestic and international flights

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

23 August 2016
Midnight Snack Productions has closed a deal with New Zealand subscription TV provider SKY for its acclaimed science fiction thriller RESTORATION, with the broadcast-hour length film to premiere on SKY’s specialist sci-fi, fantasy, horror and cult channel The ZONE later this year.
“ZONE viewers love nothing more than a great story to sink their teeth into,” said Lisa Clements, SKY’s Head of Acquisitions, Entertainment and Movies. “RESTORATION is a clever premise with a great cast so a good fit for The ZONE, which as part of our basic package and therefore available to all SKY’s customers, so more than 2 million Kiwis have the opportunity to watch it when it premieres later this year.”
Midnight Snack producer Toby Gibson and RESTORATION co-producer Simon de Bruyn have also negotiated a deal with Virgin Australia, with the film set to screen on its domestic and international inflight entertainment platform, which includes flights from Australia to Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi and New Zealand.
“RESTORATION will reach an even bigger audience when the film takes to the skies with Virgin Australia. Guests travelling on Virgin Australia services will have the opportunity to view the film on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system from September 2016,” explains Gibson. These deals follow RESTORATION’s Australian primetime premiere on the Nine Network’s free-to-air channel 9Go! on Saturday 6 August.
Leading Australian subscription video-on-demand service STAN will also stream the film from 8 September. “STAN has an exceptionally well-curated library of titles for their growing and passionate audience. We are thrilled that RESTORATION can be seen alongside shows and films that we love,” says director Stuart Willis.
Directed by Stuart Willis and independently produced by Midnight Snack Productions’ Toby Gibson, RESTORATION is set in a near-future world where humans have their memories downloaded for backup via a new and dangerous technology.

Featuring critically-acclaimed and accomplished Australian actor Craig McLachlan (The Doctor Blake Mysteries) among its ensemble cast, RESTORATION tells the story of a man, Oliver Klein (Grant Cartwright), who awakes after a routine backup with his memories restored into a body that is not his own. The cast of RESTORATION rounds out with Nadia Townsend (Knowing, City Homicide), Stephen Carracher (Vanished), Rosie Lourde (Starting From Now, Embedded), Elizabeth Nabben (Winners & Losers) and Ailís Logan (Alvin’s Harmonious World of Opposites).
In February, RESTORATION scribes Stuart Willis and Matthew Clayfield were highly commended in the prestigious Australian Writers’ Guild John Hinde Awards for Excellence in Science Fiction and the script also received an AWGIE Award nomination in 2015. Midnight Snack Productions continues to explore international sales and is in active development with Willis and Clayfield for an ongoing series and world-building adaptation provisionally titled REVERSION.
