6th OLD SCHOOL KUNG FU FEST
Action Classics from Hong Kong’s Golden Harvest studio
April 8-10, 2016, at Metrograph!

Subway Cinema, the crew behind the legendary New York Asian Film Festival (celebrating its 15th anniversary!) is teaming up with Metrograph to unleash the 6th OLD SCHOOL KUNG FU FEST – a barrage of the rarest, wildest, and most incredible martial arts and action movies from the 60’s through the 90’s.

This year we’re focusing on Golden Harvest, the studio that became Hong Kong’s leading purveyor of truly insane action cinema in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.

ENTER THE DRAGON (1973) – Bruce Lee’s funkadelic masterpiece!
THE MAN FROM HONG HONG (1975) – the One-Armed Swordsman (Jimmy Wang Yu) and James Bond (George Lazenby) go mano-a-mano in this car crashtastic action flick (followed by an extremely macho party for the audience).
THE PRODIGAL SON (1981) – Sammo Hung + Yuen Biao = action paradise.
PEDICAB DRIVER (1989) – Sammo Hung’s greatest achievement!
RUMBLE IN THE BRONX (1995) – Jackie Chan comes to Vancouver and fights a hovercraft!
THE BLADE (1996) – Tsui Hark’s feral swordplay movie!
BIG BULLET (1996) – the last truly great Hong Kong cop film of the 90s!

All the titles (except PRODIGAL SON) will be super-rare 35mm screenings! Presented with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office New York, in association with Warner Archive.
