SUSPENDED INSPECTOR BORO Gets His Kicks Out Of Finishing Off Bad Guys In The Official Trailer

One of the best things to come from teaching martial arts is the prospect of your students taking their craft into film and TV. Wing Chun Gung Fu Grandmaster Amar Deori Singh knows this fact full well having witnessed his nephew, filmmaker, Kenny Basumatary, grow into the hustle and bustle of bringing martial arts action cinema to Assamese audiences.

Having birthed a movement for Assamese cinema flying the flag for Kenny DB Films with 2013 hit action comedy, Local Kung Fu, Basumatary’s crowdfunded 2017 sequel was a harder nut to crack. It was removed from theaters to accommodate S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and so it suffered, though the dogged director stayed the path in his creative stride so far with his latest martial arts action reprisal, Suspended Inspector Boro.

Five years in the making with a different setting and language at one point, actor Utkal Hazowary, who has been with Basumatary since LKF, takes the title role as a no-nonsense cop pitted against traffickers and thugs, and a corrupt inspector in the wake of a woman’s disappearance. Basumatary joins in the line-up as the antagonist for a darker thriller that promises to level things up on several fronts, including the action with an ample cast, as well as a talented crop of action and stunt performers – all who’ve studied under Basumatary’s uncle.

Suspended Inspector Boro is set for a December 7 release, and with it, the hopeful prospects of setting the genre in stone for Assasmese cinema as Basumatary and his community of martial artists and aspiring screenfighters continues to emerge out of the woodwork and onto the world stage.
