Take A Swing At The First Trailer For Boxing Bio, HANDS OF STONE

Replete with boxing biopics as of late, 2016 winds up its latest hard-hitter with Jonathan Jakubowicz’s upcoming drama, Hands Of Stone. The Weinstein Company is releasing this one on August 26 in the states, and the latest trailer is out and welcoming actor Edgar Ramirez into the spotlight as one of the greatest boxers in history.

SYNOPSIS:

HANDS OF STONE follows the life of Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez), the Panamanian fighter who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year‐old and retired in 2002 at the age of 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard (Usher Raymond) to capture the WBC welterweight title, but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in their November rematch, famously saying the words “no mas” (no more.)

That co-star, actor and singer Usher Raymond is in this one is a bit of a surprise to me as I haven’t seen him on screen since Ron Underwood’s romantic crime comedy, In The Mix, in 2005. He’s done other films since then, but I’m curious to see what he puts in here with the likes of Ramirez and DeNiro. Check out the trailer below!
