Try picking director Timo Tjahjanto’s brain from any distance about what he has in store and he’ll be about as cryptic as he wants. He can certainly afford it, especially after wowing thriller fans with hits like Killers and two installments of the May The Devil Take You franchise, as well as actioners Headshot and the ever pulsating The Night Comes For Us, and the same goes for what fans are hoping for with its spin-off, The Operator, and whatever you decide to take from this reply to a fan via Twitter.
That, of course, leaves us with what he’s up to now with Netflix’s widely reported investment in Southeast Asian content, including Indonesia’s Tjahjanto who has since shared the first teaser poster for his latest action flick, The Big 4. Tjahjanto directs from a script he wrote with Johanna Wattimena, which centers on a dogged detective whose investigation into the death of her father leads her to a tropical island. Upon uncovering his shocking past and forced on the run by his enemies, she must now team up with his down-on-their-luck criminal protégés in order to avenge him.
Actress Lutesha (May The Devil Take You Too) and Abimana Arysratya (The Night Comes For Us) lead the cast along with actress Putri Marino (First, Second And Third Love) and Arie Kriting (Comic 8 1 & 2). Peep the poster below, and make sure to catch the teaser here!
