It’s about that time for folks to lock in. Kenji Tanigaki’s The Furious is the talk of the town with all the buzz in the world that it’s bound to be the best movie of the year, and with a worldwide release in multiple territories set for June 12, the newest official trailer for the film’s Hong Kong rollout from producer/exec producer Bill Kong’s Edko Films label just made its way to our laptops and phone screens.
In a small Southeast Asian country, skilled martial artist Wang Wei’s daughter Rainy is abducted by a child trafficking ring. Wang Wei sets out on a rampage, confronting both the corrupt police and the criminals. Determined to rescue his kidnapped daughter, he encounters Navin, a journalist tirelessly trying to solve his wife’s recent disappearance. Together, the two unleash their formidable combat skills, fighting their way through determined opponents and dangerous obstacles to unravel crucial clues. Just in time, they successfully rescue Rainy and a group of innocent children, dismantling the notorious human trafficking syndicate and bringing justice to the exploited and vulnerable.
This trailer gives away a few more beats than the initial trailer that arose a while back, including the film’s fully climatic character moment that’s had audiences roaring. I’m guessing the PR folks aren’t too worried considering there’s plenty more movie to take away upon the film’s release. Regardless, I’ve been telling folks that The Furious is going to blow people away since I saw it last month here in New York City, and I fucking meant it.
Catch the trailer below, and for the film’s same day release in the States, don’t miss the character posters just beneath from Lionsgate!
