THE FURIOUS: Lionsgate Takes Kenji Tanigaki’s Feature Debut Bowing In 2026

Lionsgate has acquired Kenji Tanigaki’s new movie, The Furious. The film’s distribution space will be worldwide with a day-and-date theatrical release aligned with China, Hong Kong and Macao.

The Furious stands to be one of the more exciting titles of the new year following festival screenings in Toronto and Bucheon, and a recent sold-out event screening at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. Below is an abridgement from its programming last month:

An ordinary tradesman, Konggu, faces his worst nightmare when his daughter is brutally kidnapped. With the help of a tenacious journalist, Navin, he plunges headlong into Bangkok’s seedy underworld—a relentless maze of criminal empires and corrupt operatives. Each step is more harrowing than the last, and every ally conceals a hidden motive.

Directed by fight-choreography master Kenji Tanigaki, THE FURIOUS is a heart-pounding action thriller that strips martial arts of glamour and embeds it in raw, visceral reality. From pulse-raising stunts to emotional stakes that never let up, the film delivers an unflinching journey through desperation, paternal love, and survival at all costs.

The Furious stars Xie Miao, Joe Taslim, Yang Enyou, Brian Le, Yayan Ruhian, Jija Yanin, Joey Iwanaga, Sahajak Boonthanakit and Manatsanun Phanlerdwongsakul. Stay tuned for more info!
