THE GREEN GHOST: Michael D. Olmos’s Long-Awaited Mexican Superhero Adventure Starring Danny Trejo And Marko Zaror To Premiere At LALIFF In June!

It’s been nearly six years since stirring up festival crowds with updates, including a short teaser, poster and an exclusive ten minute preview for upcoming superhero movie, The Green Ghost. Nowadays though, the Michael D. Olmos-directed fantasy action adventure is finally getting some more buzz going with news of its upcoming premiere as part of the line-up for the 20th Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival launching in June.

This is the untold story of the true Maya Apocalypse that has been misinterpreted by scholars and was to have taken place on 12/21/12 – that was obviously wrong. A secret group of Mexican superheroes, known as El Trio de la Luz, are forced by destiny to include their bumbling adopted gringo into their group to join the fight to save humanity. Will the car salesman and local TV personality carry his weight and transform from the GRINGO into the GREEN GHOST?

The project is the latest incarnation of an old webseries which sees Charlie Clark now advancing the title role one more in feature film fashion, opposite a cast that prominently lists Chilean martial arts star Marko Zaror, and actors Danny Trejo, Kuno Becker, Sofia Pernas, Enrique Castillo, Bobby Lashley, Cain Velazquez, action multi-hyphenates Andy Cheng and Michelle Lee, and more.

An official trailer is yet to make the rounds but an actual festival premiere sounds truly promising at this point. It means the film is complete, and that of course means there’ll be a lot of questions pertaining to the extenuating process of bringing The Green Ghost into feature film fruition.

For all this and more, you can read even further about The Green Ghost along with a roster of almost fifty feature-length and short-form sections for this year’s edition of LALIFF at the official website.
