THE HIT LIST: April 20, 2020

Gaetan Caillot Action Design/YouTube

Indeed, much of the country is still shut down, and will be for the foreseeable future provided people know how to follow procedure and stay indoors.

That’s all there is to it, really. Stay in, grab a snack, and hit up our homepage for the latest installment of The Hit List and enjoy some action-packed indie shorts and stunt gems from around the world. Natalie Padilla is here to help get the party started with her latest reel to begin the playlist below, followed by Luke Tumber, Angela Kosteska, Dean Gould, Sofian Francis, Myroslava Hybets, Conor Hegarty, Jennifer Mitchell, Park Sung-ho, Ben Sanchez, Ashley Becciani, Kamy Bruder, Anya Vlasova, Kevin Ku, Cameron Tubbs, Emily Wilson and Patrick Millin, and a quartet of stellar reels by Hitz International, Nomad Stunts, Rick Avery and a nostaligic medley of new and old beats by EMC Revolution.

Without any particular promotional bits to watch, all we have left is a boatful of action from around the web, beginning with a quartet of videos hosted by Gaetan Caillot’s action design YouTube Channel, followed by Alexey Minaev with Ilya Pozdniakov, Vic Plajas with Aaron Joshua, and SAGA Action Arts’ own Dylan Hintz and Abra Burkett.

Tyler Williams gets some work done in two recent choreo uploads for Angela Bell and Jamie Hegland, while The Secret Crew channel shares their own fight choreo beats, as does Shaun Charney for Ashley Becciani’s new upload with Anthony Magallanes, Adam Lytle with Amanda Semler in Cabin Fever, Rustic B.’s If Karate Worked In Real Life with lead Allen Niles, Action Movie Makers with a Black Widow-inspired fight scene, and Aaron D. Alexander and Morgan Benoit pre-vizzing some Lucifer action for Vlad Rimburg.

Rounding out the playlist Bryan Sloyer’s Guilty By with Jay Kwon, and Martial Club’s quarantine comedy, Martial Artists VS. Real Life, and three more amazing shortfilms with Clean & Dirt from Godefroy Ryckewaert, Kung Fu VS. Zombies: Return Of The Wing Kong from SuperAlloy Interactive’s Eric Jacobus and Dennis Ruel, and the hotly-anticipated neon action sci-fi fantasy, Escape From North Korea from star and director Keith Eng.

And, here to bring it home, a once burgeoning filmmaker invites us to indulge a throwback classic with Kurando Mitsurake (Karate Kill, Gun Woman) laying waste to bad men as an elusive killer in his film school graduate Rashomon-esque 1998 gangster tale, The Killer, The Wounded, and The Liar.
