THE HIT LIST: October 1, 2018

The good news is I’m getting back a little bit more into a steady viewing of anime. Finished season 3 of My Hero Academia and caught up with the latest in the Silver Soul arc of Gintama, plus I’ve just started picking back up on features I’ve been missing out on so expect some more reviews if possible.

Clockwise from top left: Aaron Toney, Tyler Tackett, Mickey Facchinello, Danny Shepherd, Orlando Cruz, Gene Freeman, Danny Tripp, Troy Sanford, Xavier Luo, Yanik Ethier

…The bad news, it seems is the well still may be drying up in terms of weekly Hit List candidates, though I hope this isn’t long term and especially since I know folks out there are still either filming or preparing projects.

At any rate, we’re back with another round of stunt and indie aciton morsels from ’round the web and we begin with a fresh new stunt reel playlist for the week. Wonder Woman Virginie Parres kicks things off followed by reels from Gene Freeman, Frederic Jean, Jeff Budner, Maria Sova, Garrett Ielapi, Jonathan Purvis, Alex De Iorei, Jordan Thoma, Xavier Luo, Matt Flanagan, Lauren Nguyen, Matt Philliben, Daniel Masterson, Stefan Brysha, Angela Kosteski, Jonathan Mercedes, Ruben Maldonado, Xanthia Marinelli and Younes Boutinane.

There are just a few projects I wanna point out this week and we begin with a project seemingly well on the way called Blood Only. I learned about this project when I came across a fight reel that I’m not sharing just yet. I simply read a description that had the title in it and that’s how I came across the posters which you can view below.

As for its release, it’s still being circulated at festivals as far as I know and so there’s no telling when it’ll roll online but I’ll keep you posted. The same goes for Brazen Action Design‘s most recent trailer below for upcoming short, The Clash, which is being released this month!

It’s time for the fight and film action this week and we begin with the newest continuation of Eric Nguyen‘s The Fighting Joruney, now featuring Elizabeth Yun in solid form opposite Irvin Nguyen and Mickey Arce. Hats off to Troy Sandford who had a stint in Thailand recently where he got to trade a little more than a few words with Ron Smoorenburg who’s spent a good deal of his training in the last several years adapting Capoeira into his regime. The infamous Who Am I? kicker has only gotten better with age and the results show everytime!

From there, Jay Kwon challenges Kiera O’Connor and Yavuz Topaz on the 8 Ft Rule while Aaron Fields and co. take A Walk In The Woods, Tyrone Tolentino’s latest 48 Hour Film Challenge entry gets a brutal, head-stomping display in Wuji FilmsShiba with Joshua Zacharias, Bronson Cameron and Derek James Trapp, and a few late picks of my own listing Cambodian indie fight gem, Visitor from Kavei Films, and Bebop Films’ own The Wolf Of Marseilles.

Film duo Nicholas Ortiz (Black Betty) and director Peter Lawton return to once more to mesmerize with pure grit and jidaigeki aesthetic in Drifter starring Orlando Cruz. ScrewAttack jams on further at about the 14-minute mark of their latest fan fight vid dissemination pitting Tyler Tackett against Danny Shepherd in a live-action Death Battle debut in Daredevil VS. Nightwing.

Last and far from least is a classic internet hit from Vlad Rimburg with a higher-def re-upload of trippy-tuned action short, Men In Suits, featuring a rousing ensemble of stunt players led by Micky Facchinello with Aaron Toney and Amy Johnston bookending the spectacle.

Enjoy the hits!
