THE HIT LIST: October 22, 2018

A fever kicked my butt again over the weekend but I was lucky to be on the better end of it by Monday to get this week’s Hit List done!..

Clockwise from top left: Caitlin Hutson, Victor Plajas, David Lavalee Jr., Narayan Cabral, Anisha Gibbs, Glenn Arden Davy, Mark Ferrando, Nikki Mae, Shaun Charney, Omar Zaki

Alas, Afton Rentz kicks off the first of two playlists per usual as we meet the latest raft of action and stunt reels, followed by entries from Danny Darwin, Omar Zaki, Ryson Shalvis, Claire Hoogenboom, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Danny Sre, Corbett McAllister, Calvert David Miles, Jesse Rowles, Kayla Longshore, Eric Shamm Watson, Daniel Bodlak, Matt Flanagan, Mike Jones, Harry Makanga and an action-packed minute medley from Stunt Women United.

There’s only one item in the way of promotion courtesy of filmmaker, actor and martial artist John Phoenix Le Grand, arriving just in time for the 20th anniversary of the hit Blade franchise with his own fan film, Blade Of The Daywalker. Set in South Florida, actor Markus Walton heads up the narrative in the title role as he’s now pitted against a new vampiric threat led by up-and-comer, action actor and fight choreographer Xavier Luo. The project originally started as a two-minute warning action sequence that flourished in a matter of several weeks against the usual odds and hurdles brought about by independent filmmaking, and will soon be seen by an audience at the 6th Urban Action Showcase and Expo in November.

From here on it’s straight to the action beginning with some practice fight scenery from Victor Plajas and David Lavalee Jr., followed by Martial Club’s own invite to Halloween killer fandom pitting Jason against Michael Myers (this might be a reshare, but it’s still welcome as far as I’m concerned). Two members of Taipei-based ACT stunt team offer up some sword action of their own while Vlad Rimburg‘s YouTube channel continues to dish out the Batman pre-vis gems with Brendon Huor, Anisha Gibbs, Jimmy Chhiu and Amy Sturdivant.

Omar Zaki makes the second of two hits for this week’s Hit List for his own kung fu short embedded in a 13-minute video host to his 30-day kung fu challenge and you can skip to the 11:00 minute mark to see the action with Zaki opposite Narayan Cabral, Caitlin Hutson, Glenn Arden Davy and Mark Ferrando. Nikki Mae and Shaun Charney battle over kung fu and egos to dream for in Kung Fu Pangit, and last and far from least is a reupload of a hit shortfilm by the amazing people at Brazen Action Design titled Vindicta, a project I’ve shared freely a few times off the website as it’s one of the best I’ve seen and with Sunny Tellone in the lead.
