Netflix is gearing up to release Peter Berg’s new World War II epic, The Mosquito Bowl with a theatrical rollout on October 30. Subscribers to the streamer will then be able to catch it on November 25.
Berg directs The Mosquito Bowl from a script he wrote with Mark L. Smith. The film is based on Buzz Bissinger’s 2022 Harper publication “The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II,” which Berg took to developing amid post-production on last year’s American Primeval.
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, four of America’s top College Football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they’ll play in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history – a game that, for many, will be the last they ever play.
The Mosquito Bowl stars Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, Tom Francis, Brent Comer, and Dominic Bogart. Also starring are Jack Ingram, Ella Newton, Lola Bond, Stacy Clausen, Billy Smith, Steven Sammut, Blake Erickson, Claudia Ware, and Pat McAfee.
Berg also stars in the film. He also produces for Film 44, along with Brian Grazer for Imagine Entertainment, and Alex Gayner. Bissinger also exec produced next to Ezra Emanuel and Jeb Brody.
