THE NIGHT COMES FOR US Officially Confirms Julie Estelle!

There are multiple occurrences this month, with Indonesia, New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney scheduled for early screenings of writer and director Gareth Evans’ new film, The Raid 2, and The Expendables 3 helmer Patrick Hughes officially signed to reboot the first of both films with Evans executive producing with XYZ Films, and original stars Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian on board to direct the brutal signature fights. While all of this is happening, the producers over at XYZ Films and Merantau Films are also busy preparing to shoot this Spring for Killers co-director Timo Tjahjanto‘s new Indonesian action crime thriller, The Night Comes For Us, which, so far, has seen its fair share of teaser photos highlighting notable efforts in fight choreography courtesy by Evans and Uwais in previous reports.

One of those photos also included the potential for a female contender for the film’s action-oriented atmosphere, which now leads to today’s report with the official word from the director himself that The Raid 2 actress Julie Estelle, who has been making headlines for her role as “Hammer Girl”, has signed on to star in Tjahjanto‘s new film. While intricate details of her character are tentatively under wraps, Estelle will join lead actor Joe Taslim who plays a gangland enforcer whose homeward arrival from a trip abroad to his local crime family in Jakarta unwittingly thrusts him into a web of deceit, betrayal and bloodshed as the local Triad advances its campaign for territorial expansion. The film will ultimately reunite Taslim with fellow actor and Silat impressario Yayan Ruhian in what already looks to bring an exciting rematch since their first duel in the 2011 film, The Raid (a.k.a. Seruban Maut).
Further casting info awaits much needed confirmation as Tjahjanto and his crew continue preparing ahead of the film’s 2015 release. Meanwhile, Estelle and Ruhian will make their appearance in the expansive multi-territorial release of The Raid 2 for worldwide audiences beginning the weekend of March 27 and 28.
