The Official Trailer For THE MARTIAL ARTS KID Is Here!

Action superstars Don “The Dragon” Wilson (White Tiger) and Cynthia Rothrock (Mercenaries) were on hand to conduct some very important business this weekend at the Urban Action Showcase & Expo in New York City, including granting an official presentation of the full trailer for the first feature-length film from Wilson’s Traditionz Movie 1, LLC label, The Martial Arts Kid.

Made in conjunction with New Jersey-based anti-bullying organization, Kickin It, the film, directed by Michael Baumgarten, centers heavily on its upward message with lead actor Jansen Panetierre starring in the title role. Its all-too familiar plot notwithstanding, the film’s popular headliners, as well as its family-friendly tone are sure to garner the vast interest of action fans and moviegoers alike. Notably, the production was also made evidently possible thanks to the generosity of donors during the film’s crowdfunding efforts earlier on, led by co-stars/producers Wilson and Rothrock and producers Cheryl Marie Wheeler and James Wilson. And thankfully, a teaser made its way over the summer after getting some publicity at Dragonfest 2014 back in May.
With the year inching to a close and the film’s hopeful release coming soon, the very trailer unveiled in New York City is now online for your own viewing.

SYNOPSIS:

When troubled teen Robbie moves to Cocoa Beach, Florida from Detroit after his grandmother has had enough of his antics, he soon realizes that everywhere he goes there is somebody who doesn’t want him to be happy… and in Cocoa Beach, that somebody is Bo Whitelaw, the toughest and most popular guy at the high school.

From the moment Bo gives Robbie a beat-down in front of Rina (the prettiest girl in school), we know Robbie’s chances of living in a happy neighborhood are just not realistic. To help Robbie stand a chance of survival in a dangerous teen world, his estranged Aunt Cindy and Uncle Glen (played by action legends Cynthia “Lady Dragon” Rothrock and Don “The Dragon” Wilson) are there to coach and train Robbie. Along the way, Robbie learns defensive skills that will give him a chance to defend himself… But will that be enough to protect himself from Bo in an all-out epic battle? And will Robbie ever be ‘the man’ in Rina’s eyes? Find out when everything comes to a head in a final showdown that pits legends of traditional martial arts against MMA fighters in a battle you will have to see to believe.

The trailer is pretty impressive and refreshing seeing Wilson with Rothrock in action, but more importantly, there’s an action star waiting to happen in Panetierre, and he shows it quite a bit through somw of his athleticism. I wouldn’t pass this up as a hopeful introduction to a career as a rising action star if he so chooses. This could be good!

Kathryn Newton, Matthew Ziff, Brandon Tyler Russell, and actor and martial artist T.J. Storm also star. Watch the trailer below from Gorilla Pictures, and be sure to follow the movie on Facebook as well!
