Well, it only took a little over three months, but now it appears Marvel is *officially* officially confirming the development of a Punisher spin-off series for Netflix. A show had been brewing for a while now with reports speculating its possibility until news broke in January that one would be happening before Marvel’s Head Of Television, Jeph Loeb tried walking it back a month later.
Following his stellar portrayal of the classic Marvel character in the second season of Marvel’s hit Netflix series, Daredevil, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role once more as the vengeful Frank Castle with writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) serving as showrunner. There’s no word yet if Bernthal will appear in the forthcoming series, The Defenders while the studio plots the future of Daredevil, completes its next season of Jessica Jones and season one of Iron Fist following the premiere of Luke Cage this September.
