Pardon me while I chime in with a little bit of news over from Nepal as director Saurav Chaudhary readies for The Rise Of Saamrajya. Chaudhary is directing from a script by award-winning author and poet Buddhisagar with production hailing from Dark Horse Entertainment, reuniting Chaudhary with the label since The Unbreakable Agastya: Chapter 1, and last year’s release, Karma.
Available details are limited but the full story comes courtesy of staff reporting on July 11 over at Setopati who cite executive producer Shankar Pandey who described the film as “the largest-scale ‘epic action drama’ in the Nepali film industry to date, in terms of lineup and making”. Principal photography is expected to commence in August as casting details are expected shortly, while a preliminary one sheet was revealed to lend an idea to folks taking note.
The report also notes that Shree Shrestha will be handling the action, once again joining Chaudhary on set. Shrestha also delivered the action and stunt directing on another Nepalese banger that caught my attention last year called Pariwartan; Don’t get me wrong as these titles are still seldom shown in the states but I’ll be damned if I miss an opportunity to help put Southeast Asian action cinema on radar a little from my end.
