Justin P. Lange, director behind the 2018 Tribeca fave, The Dark, is set to direct his own script for exorcism thriller, The Seventh Day. Billed as Training Day meets The Exorcist, Guy Pearce (Memento, Domino) will lead the cast for the tale of a rookie priest whose first day of training with a renowned exorcist plunges them deeper into hell on earth, blurring the lines between good and evil as their own demons emerge.

The film hails from Voltage Pictures who launched sales at AFM this week, with Amanda Presmyk (VFW) and Dallas Sonnier (Dragged Across Concrete) producing for Fangoria and Cinestate, respectively, with producers Kimberly Hwang (Lucky) and Chelsea Davenport. Voltage CEO Nicolas Chartier and President/COO Jonathan Deckter are exec producing with Adam Donaghey (A Ghost Story), Phil Nobile Jr. (Horror Noire) and Danielle Cox (The Standoff At Sparrow Creek). David Guglielmo is casting.

“This is a story about the rising spread of a pervasive evil. We live in an increasingly dark world, one where it’s difficult to know who to trust, or what to believe. It’s a scary time, and scary times call for scary movies,” Lange shares. “Guy Pearce is an extraordinary talent – that rare combination of bona fide movie star and consummate artist. I can’t wait for audiences to see what he has in store for them with this role.”

Pearce also stars in Santiago Manes Moreno’s Long Gone Heroes for Arclight and also for Voltage in York Alec Shackleton’s Disturbing The Peace. The actor will make his return to the big screen in February in director Dave Wilson’s Valiant Comics-adapted Vin Diesel starrer, Bloodshot. He is represented by CAA and attorney David Weber.

Lange is represented by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Jonathan Gardner.
