THE THERAPIST: FIST OF TAE-BAEK Teaser Trailer Knuckles Up To Ease Your Pain

Currently making the rounds this week for the 24th Bucheon International Fantasic Film Festival is The Whispering director Sam Choi’s new martial arts comedy, The Therapist: Fist Of Tae-Baek. The film stars Oh Ji-ho whose latest upcoming stint in Yang Kil-yong’s The Prisoner has already garnered some buzzworthy reactions from its recent trailer.

As for the specifics, Mo Eun-young takes the wheel for BIFAN with some own programming notes over at the festival’s website:

Seongjoon is training with his mentor Jinsu in order to win a Taebaekwon contest. The night before the final round of the competition, Seoungjoon returns to find Jinsu who has suddenly disappeared. Seoungjoon meets Bomi by chance there and they unexpectedly get married. He opens a finger-pressure treatment clinic to make a living using Taebaekwon, which he has practiced his whole life. As he makes full use of his talent, his clinic goes viral, but this business and his family are soon put in jeopardy by loan sharks and redevelopment groups.

The Therapist: Fist of Tae-baek is a family comedy following the story of a hidden martial arts master being born again when his true self is awakened through a crisis, with the idea there might be a martial arts master hiding within ordinary life. The essence of the film is the ensemble performance of the actors including Shin Soyul, Jung Euwook and Oh Jiho, who plays the martial arts master-turned-therapist, masterfully portraying the dual aspects of a sloppy man and a martial arts master.

Oh leads a cast that includes The Merciless actress Shin So-yul, and Start-Up co-star Jung Eui-wook from a script by Han Seung-yup. An exact release date hasn’t been set as of yet, but I don’t imagine it’s far off. Check back soon!
