I’d say two years is more than quite goddamn long enough for any film to release. That’s especially the case with Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger which swept audiences for the 18th edition Fantastic Fest, before finally landing in the wheelhouse of Cineverse for a planned North American run in partnership with Iconic Events Releasing as of earlier this year.
To this end, and after a spell of teasers to whet two whole years of appetites for Toxie’s revamped return to the big screen with Peter Dinklage in the title role, we now have a full-fledged red-band trailer, ripe with all the oh-so violent and gory goods that apparently some studios weren’t keen on basking in with the rest of us like none of us have seen a violent thriller before. Like, honestly WTF?
In this bold new chapter of the classic midnight movie franchise created by Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Entertainment; a shocking accident transforms downtrodden janitor Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) into a mutant vigilante. Armed with his signature mop, the unlikely hero battles freaks, gangsters and corrupt CEOs while trying to save his relationship with his son.
Dinklage is joined by Jacob Tremblay, Julia Davis, and Taylour Paige, along with Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood. Alas, Bloody Disgusting has the trailer below following its exclusive push on Friday via IGN. Check it out below and show the fuck up to its release on August 29!
